Stabbing pain in right ovary and no period.

Ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic, as period should have arrived today (possibly tomorrow).

All day today I keep getting stabbing pain in a lower right side-very similar to the one you get for a few moments when ovulating.

It doesn't hurt when pressed or released, and I'm feeling fine, so I guess it's not appendicitis.

Too early for ectopic pg to announce itself, I think?

Could it be a cyst?

Also there is a tiny, tiny chance I could be pg(I don't want to!) I don't recall having that as a symptom with my previous pregnancies, though.

It's quite nonstop at the mo.

Any ideas?

Perhaps you are just a little bit late and it is uncommon pain? I get pain like that once every few months or so, sometimes the odd period is a little different.

I hope so...It's very precise, stabbing, sharp pain iyswim- only in one spot- not a general dull pain.

Oh, and I had an ultrasound and smear about 6 months ago and all was fine.

I experienced this type of pain. I went to the doctor who prescribed medication for IBS, but (as I was sexually active) told me to do a preg test before I took it.

I was pregnant. I had the pains later and after talking to doctor rushed to hospital, with fears of ectopic pregnancy in mind.

£35 taxi fare later found out I was pregnant but had a v.large ovarian cyst. Do a test and whatever the result, go to your GP.

Oh God. But was the cyst related to the pg in your case?

They said "yes". The pregnancy/growth hormones precipitated the growth of the cyst (which grew throughout my pregnancy, but was monitored). I called it Oscar and it caused me no end of sharp stabbing pain for a long time. Had Oscar removed 6months after giving birth.

Hope I'm not scaring you.

Yes, Oscar the Ovarian Cyst. I had thought of calling DS Oscar (before I got PG), but that night I went to hospital they did an ultrasound and saw Oscar (the size of an orange) and DS (the size of a coffee bean). I called him Bean from there on. His name is now U A B R*. The "B" is for Bean. The registar was a bit .

If the pain doesn't go in the next couple of days I would make an appointment to see your doctor. You can then be referred and get an ultrasound done.

I've recently found out after going for an ultrasound that I have a cyst on my right ovary. As it's bigger than 5cm it will probably need to be removed. I have had some pain this month during my period and I believe this is being caused by the cyst.

I had a large chocolate cyst removed in April so was hoping there wouldn't be any more:(
