DS has a huge head

I'm a bit worried tbh. I'm not really one for centile charts, as I think they are a load of toot. However, DS's weight is hovering between the 9th and 25th line, where as his head circ is off the scale. He's 9 months old, yet I struggle to get his head through t shirts for 12-18 months. Should I be worried about it, or am I being a bit neurotic?

If it's really worrying you then go back. Perhaps it's just taking his body time to catchup and it will all balance out in the end.

FWIW my DS2 has a HUGE head - 50cm at 1year. Having said that he is HUGE all round, extremely tall (89cms) and very heavy wearing 24-36 month clothing)

The paediatrician has checked him over and pronounced him an extremely healthy, if very very big boy.

big heads run in families as well. Can you and your dp find hats to fit?

My DS has a big head - the biggest the midwife had ever seen. I queried it with midwife & GP and they all reassured me he was fine. Mention it to your hv but I'm sure all is okay.

DS2 (4) has an enormous head (struggles to get right age clothing over it) and DS1 (7) has a tiny head - they take after DH and me, respectively. But in photos it looks really weird coz DS2's head is much bigger than DS1's. Seriously, though, with DS1 they did a double take at his 8 month check because he was on 50th centile for weight and height, but head circumference was below the 9th centile. But since he was developing normally and the head was nice and round they left it. DH and I think it's getting smaller, like in the car ad about the dog.

I wouldnt judge by clothing - I find some brands just too small at the neck
DS still gets his head stuck in clothing
he had a big head and compared with his little sisters its massive but she is just dainty

moozoboozo - I wouldn't worry, my HV says my dd head is too small and she has been to numerous hospital appointments and had x-rays etc.. and they all say her developement is fine so not to worry.

I haven't bothered having ds3 weighed since he was about 2 weeks old or something and he's now 13 months! Anyway, he's got quite a big head and so has ds2 - always struggle to get their heads through t-shirts. Dh has a massive head too - I call him potato head
