dental problems - anyone losing teeth post pregnancy?

I've just had a tooth extracted yday 20 months after ds3 was born (toothache nearly 1yr and root canal 8 months ago but didn't work). I had another extraction 2 weeks after ds1 was born (abscess on top of root canal). I know the theory that you lose a tooth for each child but is it true? As my dh pointed out, none of my friends have had dental extractions, so is it just me?

no, but i had my first filling after having dd adn lots of gum issues.

I had half a tooth fall out few days after ds1 born. Now think I will need one taken out because it is aching. I had root canal done a month ago but it's not worked. dd is 10 months and it's been playing up since I was pregnant.

my teeth have been in free fall since DD1 -

3 years of pg and BF!

any solution? i brush 2X daily (DD gets angry if i don't :) )

sadly I don't have any solutions. I guess there is obviously a reason you get free dental care (in theory at least) whilst pg and for year after.

I am still BF too, not sure if this contributes as well.

I was told that teeth can take a while to settle after root canal so may be worth hanging on cupofcoffee. Mine had been very painful a few days after rc then grumbled every since and flared again a couple of weeks ago after having my appendix out (it's been a bad month)... Shock

I have been hoping it will settle down as I don't want to have a big gap in my mouth. Keep thinking I will leave it another month but then I am debating that against the fact that I have managed to get an NHS dentist this time (missed out with prev pregs) and so if it will need doing anyway over the next few months I may as well get it over with before my year runs out!
