She has had 'things' wrong for a while
-swelling in her abdomen
-dizzy spells
-tiredness (sleeping nearly 5/6 hrs a day and all night)
-she has put on tons of weight, up from 8st to 11st in 3 months!
- 3 bouts of anemia in the last 6 mths
She recently visited and I was shocked at her appearence tbh. She looked 6 months pregnant. She was falling asleep the whole time she was here and even during a conversation in the car she couldn't keep her eyes open.
She had told her GP that she though her tummy was getting bigger and was told it was more than likely just middle age, although they did send her for a pelvic ultrasound which was normal.
She called me up yesterday to say that she had been back to the GP that morning because when she lies down now she has a mass/lump? actually protruding under her ribs on the right hand side
. Her stomach is rock hard and she is in quite a bit of pain with it.
The GP felt around and said 'no sorry that absoloutly isn't right. She said she can definatly feel a mass there and at the size it is 'it is more than likely cancerous' WTF!!! WHY would a GP say that? Could she really know that just from one exam?
Obviously my DM is very very upset and worried. But has been told to 'phone this number on monday and make an urgent appointment'. I just don't get any of this at all, if she has a mass in her abdomen and the GP can feel it, why aren't they admitting her now? Why didn't anyone feel it before hand?
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice, this is starting to sound like one of those DMail stories about people going to the doctor 30 times before they find out they are riddled with cancer
