Am really struggling with a pain on one side of the bottom of my back which runs down one leg. Have had dull backache here for few months now but suddenly got worse. Any tips from fellow MN sfferers?

SOunds like siatica to me.

Have you got a DP? Take some nurofen, then get him to take a tennis ball and massage you quite hard, with it.

I found it really helped mine.

My chiropractor told me to try and limit long car journeys as well.

You could try a chiropractor or osteopath.

sounds like sciatica.

have you seen your GP?

I was going to say sciatica too.

sparkler - it's horrible isn't it? I've had it for over 3 months now and it has gradually worsened over that time, but I know lots of people just have it for a couple of weeks and then it disappears.

Is it still troubling you?

I'm currently having physio and use a tens machine for relief, as I have found painkillers/anti-inflammatories to be totally ineffective. The pain is incredible and affects all areas of your life, so I really feel for you. I find the worst thing is to sit for long periods (longer than 10 mins) and first thing in the morning (obviously because I've been inactive all night) although the pain can also wake me at night.

I'm also struggling with this so I would be interested to hear any suggestions.

I've had this ,can only say that time and taking anti inflammatories ( diclonfenac) eventually worked .
But ... you must take the tablets religiously as prescribed ( every 4 hours or whatever ) ,not just when the pain gets too much .
