pain in bone behind left ear

For the last 2 days I keep getting sharp intermittent pain in the bone behind my left ear. I don't feel that great either, has anyone any idea what this might be

You know you need to go to the doctor - could be serious. Could be nothing

Sounds like a swollen gland just behind it. I've had that the past few weeks (shingles - not suggesting you have it for a second, just any nasty viral infection!).
