I was playing badminton the other weeka nd took a very fast raquet to the side of my right hand, nearest the little finger. It was very sore and very bruised but calmed down as the week went on. However 3 weeks on it still sore and slightly bruised and a tiny bit swollen. I dont think its broken, maybe chiped?
Im not in enough pain to warrent a trip to hospital, but if it was would it be harmful to leave it??

Well they don't usually 'set' a broken finger. Only if it is displaced - where the bone has moved out of place after breaking. Often treatment of a small break to a finger would just be to strap it up for a couple of weeks to rest it. If you can move it normally, it is not deformed and there is no open wound involved then you should be fine to just give it more time and see.

sorry should have been clear, its not really my finger its at the side below my fingers, so guess side of hand.

I broke this part of my hand and the doctor pushed it back into place in a&e
They said I was lucky and some cases require surgery. I did have to do a lot of physio to stop the fingers curling under incorrectly. I think you should get it looked at
