Yikes. There may be tmi in this for some people but any help is appreciated. Just beneath my, er, cats bum mouth (as it were) one of the puckers of skin is very red and sore, compounded by the fact i had a good old scratch this morning before I realised what I was doing (sorry). There is now a big red angry sore somewhere between 5p and 10p in size. Now if this doesn't clear up within a week or so I will go to the docs but my first thought on helping it go was some sort of super strength anti septic/ nappy rash/ miracle cream. I have put sudocrem on it this morning as I have it in the house but i don't think its going to be powerful enough to do anything but stop the soreness itching, i don't think it will actually help heal it.

Any suggestions on what i can nip down to boots and buy to help me and my poor bottom become friends again?

I am going to LOL here at you Ninja
(and then admit quietly that I put teatree nappy cream on mineBlush )

Are you sure it's not a sore as opposed to a perianal abscess?

bruxeur · 16/11/2010 09:16

Grammar fail, message clear I hope.

NinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2010 09:16

wtf is a perianal abcess? am i going to have to google it?

NinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2010 09:16

perineal?

bruxeur · 16/11/2010 09:17

Perianal gland gets infected, abscess forms, only way to heal is with cold steel (old surgical aphorism).

Yes.

NinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2010 09:19

i think i might faint!

No no, perianal - as in about (peri cf peripatetic) the anus (CBM).

Butterbur · 16/11/2010 09:20

Sudocreme and wet wipes for if you need to ...er... go again. I would've thought an abcess would be swollen, very tender and red.

NinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2010 09:24

bruxeur how will i know if its that? it doesn't hurt since i put cream on it (or even itch for that matter) and i think it must have been the scratching that caused a bit of a sore. should i try missneverminds suggestion for a week and see doc if it hasn't started to clear up?

missnevermind was it just from your local boots/ supermarket? does tea tree help skin to heal?

OP posts:
bruxeur · 16/11/2010 11:57

Yes good plan.

missnevermind · 16/11/2010 19:12

Sorry, been out.
Yes just a bog standard cheap teatree nappy cream from the supermarket.
But if it is still painful after a couple of days, go ask the pharmasist or doctor. I wouldnt leave it a whole week.
