Mid-cycle bleeding for the second month in a row

I have had this before and was checked earlier this year. Last month I blamed it on having sex, today, no reason I can think of. I have regular smears and the last few have been okay. Part of me wonders if this is just me but there is a nagging worry at the back of my mind.

I know I need to see a doctor but until then is there anyone who can suggest what it might be please? (I know this is like how long is a piece of string.)

Cervical erosion? Ployp?

But please see doctor.

CerealOffender · 13/11/2010 16:58

i get this. the gp couldnt' have been less interested. it is annoying.

I feel seeing a doctor is such a waste of time at times. I saw a nurse a couple of weeks ago and she just wanted to know about something else Hmm that wasn't relevant so that was a waste of her time and mine. You are told to see them when you have symptoms and then sent away and told to wait and see.

How much bleeding is it?

ie spotting or full-on gushing.

I had the latter 2-3 months in a row.

I called my gynaecologist who gave me a quick appointment and did an internal scan.

She found a very small mini cyst on one of my ovaries.

She said I could wait for it to go away or take the pill for a couple of months.

I waited a month, and then took the pill for about a month and a half and it seems to have suppressed it.

Mine was around when I should have ovulated (and then it messed up my cycle).

hth

Cyst or erosion. I had this, but I had CINII/III in 2001 and had to have LEEP, so they took me seriously.

I have cervical erosion.

phipps · 13/11/2010 17:28

It isn't gushing. I know nothing about cervical erosion and thought it was from vigorous sex. I am loath to google and scare myself as I did that once and diagnosed ovarian cancer. I told my GP and he said it can't be as I had had symptoms for 3 years and would have been more ill.

i should probably go back and make more of a fuss. my symtoms are similar to yours jamais

expatinscotland · 13/11/2010 17:40

Well, he/she should have got a better look at it or sent you along to colpo clinic to look at it.

Mine could see it pretty clearly once I got into dead beetle position, but did an internal as well to feel for any masses or cysts.

If it continues I'll go along to gynae, but fingers crossed it hasn't.

I had another smear test, too, because of my past problems.

phipps · 13/11/2010 17:41

I am never away from the doctors what with them refusing to listen to me making assumptions. SadAngry.

See, I never go near mine. Unless it's interfering with DH's and my sex life. Can't be having that! :o

phipps · 13/11/2010 17:43

Grin.

It's not from vigorous sex, btw. It's usually from childbirth but also can happen in perimenopause/menopause. I had it after giving birth to DD2. It was hurting and spotting after sex so I went to see her and she took one look and was like, 'Ow! That is eroded.'

Did they even bother to take a peek? I've had so many poking and peeking up my yin yang I no longer care who it is, as long as they get it sorted out.

PassionKiss · 13/11/2010 17:47

I've had dramatic bleeding after sex - that was diagnosed as cervical erosion.

I've also had spotting mid-cycle which was blamed on the pill. On that occasion the nurse said that a bit of spotting was nothing to worry about (?)

At the moment I've got spotting after sex and after smear tests (since I gave birth in April). I was told this would settle down and again was nothing to worry about.

I agree HCPs couldn't be less interested!

I keep meaning to go back and nag them but as my smear has come back normal I doubt they'll be interested.

PassionKiss · 13/11/2010 17:49

X posts expatinscotland - Ooh that sounds like me. It must be cervical erosion again then I guess.

expatinscotland · 13/11/2010 17:51

It would actually hurt like a son of a bitch at certain times of the month, passion. Even with gentler positions like spooning.

DH is not small, but he was being very gentle and it was still sore and then would bleed afterwards.

Freaked me out.

phipps · 13/11/2010 17:53

I can't remember what was causing the bleeding in the beginning as I had 3 kids under 5 and was knackered. When I eventually did go to the GP I was referred to hospital and she stuck something up me to take a biopsy but it was agony so she stopped and I went back later and had it done under GA. The doctor came and told me it was polyps when I came round. When I went back to the initial doc who had tried to do the biopsy she said it wasn't. Confused.

Last month I blamed it on sex (have I said all this already?) but today it has just come on and I don't know why. There isn't a lot. Period is due in about 5 days but I am never early.

Smear was normal and the nurse said all was fine up there and she wouldn't have known I had had children.

If it has stopped do I still have to go to the doctors?
