Hemorrhoid surgery. Any experiences please

DP has just undergone a hemorrhoidectomy and I was just wanting to find out what people had learned the hard way about recovery time, what to do, what not to do etc? He is really suffering and it's hard to watch.

Bumping for you with lots of sympathy for your DP.

My DH had this. As I recall, he needed lots of painkillers and had to wear pads for the first day or two but then he was pretty much fine. I think he had to take some kind of laxative for the first few days to avoid the strain of large bowel movements (!). It's painful but he should heal up well and fairly quickly if he follows his surgeon's instructions.
