Are bright red periods normal?

My period is two weeks overdue, we though I may be pregnant as I have been very tired, sicky and feeling low. We did a few tests and they were all negative. Period started yesterday, had usual cramps yesterday. But the blood is bright red and sorry for TMI but mucusy.

Is this just what happens when you have a late period, I am usually like clockwork,

That's pretty much what my periods are like. More mucousy and bright red at the start, and slightly darker as it gets heavier.

Maybe I have had odd periods all my life and this is my first normal one. Grin

Thanks suzi,

You've just described my period too.
