why on earth are my ribs so sore?

probably one of those imponderable questions but why on earth are my ribs so sore this evening? I have a sore throat and a bit of a cough that started today (mild cold I'm sure) and my arthritis is flaring this week. All day when I've coughed I've had to hold my sides and my lower ribs feel incredibly bruised to touch. I'd understand it if I had a chest infection or a prolonged severe cough but I have neither.
I suspect I'm suffering from pathetic-itis but other thoughts welcome.

excellent :) I hope that its not made you feel worse though.
My ribs aren't quite so sore - hooray! I think the gp was right with her diagnosis. I do feel quite done in atm, its often like this at this time of year, psoriasis and arthritis flare in unison. I've just got to learn that I'm supposed to be hibernating with books and cups of tea at this time of year and not pushing through and working longer hours because its harder work and I'm slower.

I agree about hibernation Hmm it's not fair

I was with a carer yesterday & she thinks my abs should have started working by now so maybe I should go back to the GP

Sounds like a sensible plan. Are you having a quieter day today?

Katy ....sorry to thread highjack ....but ds finds when he is 'poorly' all sorts of weird things happen with his body its the M.E..

I think you sometimes forget your M.E and try and work through what you consider to be ordinary relievable symptoms .

KatyMac · 14/11/2010 11:26

Yes possibly - does he find bugs take much longer to go as well?

Dracschick · 14/11/2010 11:37

He never really gets over them tbh ....he constantly has phlegm and a sore throat despite several lots of antibiotics, his skin suffers and takes forever to heal and once he starts with a cold well it just goes on - hes never what I would call 'well'-it must be very depressing for him, another thing that ive only recently become aware of is that his pain is very intensified - what hurts me or someone else enough to think ooohhhhh bloody hell ouch is a real agoniser for ds,he had a soft tissue injury and was taken to the hospital his pulse rate was very high and the Dr asked him if he needed extra pain relief and ds said no hes used to it Sad....the Dr then explained how his body (with its M.E ) reacts to stress and pain.

Not good.

I am lucky mine is so much in remission - but I do suffer a fair amount of daily pain
