Pulled something in my knee - GP or physio?

I seem to have done something to my knee. I know exactly how I have done it, trying to get up off the sofa with a sleeping baby and not using my hands for leverage. Now it hurts when I try and get up again, but also throbs at night. Not sure if I have pulled a ligament or something.

Is it worth a visit to the GP or straight to the physio? We have a physio direct number here.

Having done the same myself recently, I went to the physio direct. The gp just sends me to A&E for an Xray anyway. The physio givesme ultrasound, diagnoses which tendons are affected, and gives me exercises to strengthen them.

Physio, definitely.

Both.
