I've been taken Fluoxetine(20mg) for almost 3 weeks and although am feeling 100% better I've been get headaches daily and often have days when I feel a bit spaced out. I've started to take it at night instead but not sure if it has helped. Will this pass? I would appreciate any feedback about the side effects. I've also been feeling nauseous which I was told to expect.

Thanks

Hi Snowball...I too have been taking it for about 3 weeks and have exact same headaches and now you mention is have been feeling a bit nauseous...but was putting that down to a change of diet as well.

....I am feeling more positive, but still very very tired though...what has it helped you with?

gingernut · 19/08/2003 11:23

Hi ! Have you been given a patient information leaflet? If not, you can look at the one for Prozac here . Headache is listed as a side effect, and also dizziness. The SPC (information aimed at healthcare professionals) says `Undesirable effects may decrease in intensity and frequency with continued treatment and do not generally lead to cessation of therapy.'

Hopefully see you later.

This is normal. I had all those symptoms as well but they do gradually disappear.

Like 3girlsmum says this normal, the side effects do wear off though as your body adjusts. I was on it for 4 years and it took a couple of months at first for it to wear off.

If you are still feeling the side effects after about 8 weeks go back to your doctor, there are other SSRIs which you may do better on.

Hi Eve, I too feel really tired all the time, I'm hoping this will pass in time.

My ds is 20 months old and the doctor says I have depression, probably PND as I've had a 'complete personality transformation' since the birth. My sister wisked me off to the doctors 2 weeks ago after I wouldn't get out of bed. I'd been going down hill for months but didn't recognise it myself.

I do feel I'm getting back to my oldself all be it very slowly. Today I'm feeling a bit crap again to be honest.

Thanks for asking.

Today I have woken up feeling worse than ever so I called the dr who advised me to stop taking them and I'm going to see her on Friday, I guess there must be alternative's on the market?

snowball, I took Fluoxetine for a while and also got the headaches, a common side effect. I asked my GP on my pharmacist's recommendation to change to Prozac, the branded drug made by Eli Lilley as he had had a few people ask aboaut the same side effects with generic fluoxetine.

I found that it made a great difference, the headaches disappeared. Your GP will have to write DAW - dispense as written and sign it or else the pharmacist will always dispense the generic rather than the branded Prozac.

I hope this makes sense and that it will help. I had no proablems at all on Prozac and found it easy to come off with no withdrawal unlike Seroxat whwich was hell.

I hope you feel better soon.
