My family have had a vomitting bug this weekend

The last 24 hours have been a synchronized puke-fest - 3dc and dh. I now have symptoms - stomach feels a bit crampy. I haven't eaten anything since lunchtime. This will presumably minimise the puking...won't it? I'm really dreading the next 12 hours, is there anything I can do to make it not so bad?

Steer clear of milk. If you haven't puked yet you may well get away with it. Take paracetamol (with plenty of clear fluids) to keep your temperature down. If it's only a 24 hour bug, even if you do throw up, you'll be over it quick.

Bon chance! :)

i find that not eating results in feeling nauseous but no real puking.

good luck.

God, huge sympathies. Dd1 started Monday, dd2 Tuesday night then me Friday. Grim. Mind started with the cramping too. Only thing that helped was sipping water so I had something to chuck up instead of bile after a few hours of it. Sorry! I was on the loo much of the time with sick bowl on knee. It was over after 10hours but felt completely washed out much of yesterday. You poor thing.

Thanks all. I feel like a condemned woman as nothing much has happened yet. It is over quickly as you say, the rest of the family have just been lying shattered on the sofa all day. I have to admit, I'm sitting here sipping coke Blush which I know isn't the done thing these days, but there's something a little comforting about it.

My DD had one a couple of weeks ago. Vom all night then bottom disaster the next day. I felt as if I might be coming down with it, but got away with nausea and a bit of diarrhoea. DP sailed through with not a single problem.
Good luck - you might get away with it!

oh franke, you poor thing. actually nothing worse than the waiting part. everything crossed for you that you don't succumb. good luck!

whomovedmychocolate · 07/11/2010 21:15

If you get to midnight without puking you've probably missed it. :)

franke · 08/11/2010 09:50

Well, I made it to 11.23 Smile. Uggh it was grim, but it was just a few hours out of my life and now I'm on the mend. I missed the last 7 minutes of Downton blardy Abbey though (in Germany, 1 hour ahead) Angry

Uggh, grim. Could do with losing a few pounds though

Glad you are getting better anyway. Let's hope it's not a second waver! Wink

DD started being sick Friday evening. Was sick lots Saturday, better Sunday although still not eating much, then sick in the night again last night.

I feel the worry now. DH & I have both been feeling slightly dodgy and are just hoping we get away with it. The waiting is so much the worsed of it isn't it? All I keep thinking is what if DH or I go into work and are then sick? Driving home would be horrendous!!!

Hey ho, the arguements about who will stay at home with DD tomorrow are about to start I think!
