Sinus Problems during/after a cold

Anyone get this?

Every time I get a cold,my sinuses flare up.

I've had a particularly bad cold this week and I'm now on day 8 of not being to taste, smell or breathe properly.Bit of headache but not in any great pain.

I actually feel liking vomiting with it now,it's so thick I can't blow anything sufficient out (tmi) to relieve the pressure.

I broke my nose last year and my sinuses have got worse with every virus since.

Any OTC treatments I can take ? as there is no way I'm going to get an appointment before Monday now.

sudafed nasal spray is great - can only use for 7 days though. Have you seen the doctor as maybe you have sinusitis?

I think I'll be trying to see the gp on Monday

Thanks though.

I used to get sinusitus with every cold, now use a prescribed steroid nasal spray and hasn't happened since, been about a year.

Try acetyl cysteine - available from Holland and Barratt in bottles of capsules. Or from you gp on prescription. The H&B ones are about half the price of independent health food shops.

try some menthol crystals dissolved in boiling water, put a towel over you head and breathe the vapour in,it seems to soothe but I'd also see doc as maybe an antibiotic is needed
