Does anyone have experience of having Gestation Diabetes during their pregnancy (not now)? I am a University Reesearcher developing a programme for women who have had gestational diabetes and who want to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes later. I would really like to share these ideas with anyone interested to see what you think about them, how I could improve it and what important things I should consider.

I am a new member of mumsnet (i have teenagers).

If there is interest I will post more details but in brief the programme is 5 x two hour sessions over 3 months and then a sixth session 5 months later. Sessions will have 10-15 mums like you. The goals are (a) Eat less than 30% of total energy from fat, (b) less than 10% from saturated fat (c) 30 minutes moderate exercise per day, and (d) 5% weight loss. The programme would offer information and support from leaders and each other to acheive these goals. We know that acheiving these goals will result in a 50% reduction in yourr risk of developing diabetes.

Any thoughts and request for more info welcomed please.
