Immunity boost

My children always get colds followed by really troublesome coughs which keep them and us up all night long! Both of them are mildly asthmatic although only seems to trouble them when they have a cold/cough. I didn't want to start giving them the inhaler as they may not get a cold just yet (I am touching wood as I am saying this as I hate tempting fate).

Was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good supplement or what kind of vitamins to use to try and boost their immune systems so they maybe don't catch so many bugs this year!!!

At the moment they are having them Bassets chewy vitamins which have C and a couple of others in them but is there anything else I could give?

for adults its things like zinc. and echinacea. there must be some childrens versions.

as some one who has a recent diagnosis with asthma (well when pregnant with DD and having first attack in a year at the mo) can I just say you should not stint on giving inhalers if needed as that will do far more harm

so soon as they show signs of a cough / cold start them on inhalers then stop 2 weeks after end of symptoms .. thats what GP told me this am

that aside there's a mineral and vitamin sachet that I use that's excellent but can't find a sachet or remember what

Yes I wasn't keen on starting the inhaler but our GP told us it takes a couple of weeks to start working, it just really did help last year when DD had a bad cough!!!

Sometimes they cough continuously for the whole night and we worry what it is doing to their little lungs!!!!

My son used to get colds quite often. He hasnt had one now for about six months. I started giving him probiotics (for toddlers) and ionised zinc (also for toddlers) together with selenium. No colds!
