Anyone ever lost a tampon?

I don't know if I forgot to put it in- that is what I am erring towards- or whether it has disappeared into the abyss Blush.

Voices of experience would be welcome- if not least to stop me feeling so stupid.

Yep, many years ago, before children actually which really worries me!

Had to relax, leave it a few hours and have a long hot bath to encourage it downwards slightly...Blush

Managed to dig get it out eventually!

Spinaroo · 28/10/2010 23:06

Havee done the bath thing and had a rummage Blush to no avail. How long did it take?

I have seen it said on here that people have lost tampons, yes.

How long ago would you have put it in?

Could you ask your dp to have a rootle around for it?

southeastastra · 28/10/2010 23:07

rofl! the abyss was on last night.

i think you'd smell something nasty after a day or so

Twiceshy · 28/10/2010 23:08

I haven't but I have heard stories of women who have. If you have, you will get a "smell" after 24hrs or so. You might have to sniff your loo paper after you wipe yourself (sorry!!!) If you get the "smell" go to your GP who will remove the offending tampon for you.

Spinaroo · 28/10/2010 23:12

It was Tuesday!!! Have an appointment to see the nurse but was hoping someone would be able to tell me it would expel itself. No smell.

I thought I had once, eventually plucked up courage to get nurse to "have a look", but nothing there - must have taken it out and forgotten. Felt a right idiot, but she said it happens all the time, better to be sure etc etc. So go to the GP if you think there's one in there.

Mooncup has saved me from a repetition of this - I love it! I often forget that its in, but I'd never not be able to find it!!

Spinaroo · 28/10/2010 23:14

Twiceshy- have been known to sniff loo paper in desperation Blush x 3000000000000

I have had them drop into the loo by themselves (very heavy flow here). Did you do a number two recently?

Spinaroo · 28/10/2010 23:18

No- but also extremely heavy here- tampon and pad soaked in less than 2 hours. It did occur to me that it may have.

poorbuthappy · 28/10/2010 23:19

It only took about 6 hours once I realised it was missing.
Possibly the difference is that i knew I had lost it, it wasn't a case of not remembering if it had dissappeared cos I knew it was up there somewhere?

Stupid question...are you still on your period? if so are you bleeding into your pants? (love saying pants...Grin)

hmc · 28/10/2010 23:20

Oh yes - didn't even know about it at the time. In my early twenties a buckled slightly warped dutch cap plopped out into the loo followed by an old tampon. How did I escape toxic shock syndrome?

TheNextMrsDracula · 28/10/2010 23:21

Tampon dropped out.....makes me sound like a right old Slack Alice! Grin

Twiceshy · 28/10/2010 23:21

Poorbuthappy I remember asking my Dad once something to do with his knickers and he told me "Women wear knickers and men wear pants". Grin Don't they just wish....

Spinaroo · 28/10/2010 23:22

I 'Lost' it 2 hours after insertion. Yes- am still on- have been using pads.

TNMD- me too!

I forgot to take a tampon out for 3 days. Kept thinking, "What is that appalling smell?" Even the children commented on it which persuaded me I should have a rummage. So embarrassed Shock
