Post-birth bleeding stopped about 2 weeks ago. Since Sunday have had clear mucus tinged with blood, now today full on bleeding like a period. Not BFing. Is this a period? Is it too early for one?

are you in pain? is it red? clots?

Jacksmybaby · 26/10/2010 09:37

No pain. No clots. Red but dark red, like a period, not bright red.

This happened to me. Have you increased your activity? I found after both my deliveries (one c-section and one vbac), my bleeding stopped after a couple of weeks, but then came back, like a full period, when I was more active - full day on my feet, that sort of thing. My doc told me it was my bodies way of saying slow down a bit. Not sure how true that is, but I did get checked out in case it was an infection, and it wasn't. The bleeding always tailed off after a couple of days.

Hmm, I did go for a walk on Sat, nothing at all strenuous but definitely more than I had been doing previously!

Could be, my periods came back about 5 weeks post caesarian which was really annoying as I was BF so thought I might have longer without them [hangry]

Agree with bleeding after increased activity - I was BF and mine came back on and off randomly after 6 weeks - didnt settle into normal routine till DD was 1

If you are concerned, I would see your GP, or a health visitor? You can still contact your MW up to 6 weeks cant you?

It's pretty heavy - much heavier that the post-birth bleeding was after the first day or two. Hoping it is a period otherwise that's a very drastic reaction to a gentle walk! Confused
