Sore boobs and chest after mammogram :(

I went to doctors about a lump in my boob 3 weeks ago, had mammogram this morning and I'm so sore. I didn't realise how much it would hurt or how much the "operator" would squeeze!
I'm just feeling a bit down about it all, I'm glad it's being investigated. I just feel blue Sad

I feel your discomfort.

I have to go every year coz I'm on an early detection / family history thing and by God, those machines could never have been invented by a woman.

It hurts more when you're younger because the breat tissue is still quite thick (so they told me!)

Good luck - it's good they're checking you out.

Aw. No wonder you don't feel great. Glad you are getting it investigated. Would some paracetemol help to ease the discomfort?

CountessVonKnackerstein · 25/10/2010 21:47

Yes it probably would help!
Thank you :)
Am I young or old at 36! ?

Young!

Regular testing starts aged 50 for all women. As you get older, the breast tissue thins which makes it easier to get a flat breast required for mammogram! If you''ve only ever had wasp sting tits, I'm not sure even age-thinning would help much!

It's a bloody awful experience but gets easier once you've had the first one because you know what to expect!

With a bit of luck, they'll find nothing more than a sebasious (sp?) cyst or similar and send you on your way. They might even suggest regular annual or 3 yearly mammo's from now on - if they do, I'd say "Go for it".

Well done for having the wit to go and get it checked. So many women don't, it's frightening!

Report back when you get some results!

Any news yet Countess?

Sending positive vibes to you.

Everything was fine, the mammogram came back clear and so did the ultrasound. The lump seems to have reduced massively in size, it could have been hormonal maybe?
Anyhow, I've been discharged now. And deserve a bottle glass of wine :)
Thank you for the good wishes :)
