Hi everyone :)
In new to this site so please excuse any mistakes I may make :)
I am 26 and mummy to 4 beautiful princesses ages 6,5,4&2 :) when I was younger I had perfect teeth mostly credited to the train tracks i wore which resulted in been laughed at but they were laughing on other side of face when treatment had completed :) since I fell preg with my eldest I started to notice imperfections but u just ignored them ! Had bigger things to worry about ha ha , anyway during and after each preg I noticed the imperfections more and more ? Like many people I didn't rate mister dentist much :( so i didn't do anything about it :( my teeth aren't brown or anything but a few have snapped away and I've got really depressed about them :( I am going to university next year to do paediatrics ! Last thong I want is to be scaring children with Freddieteeth so I finally grew up and made an appointment today for November :) really scared of what the dentist will think of me ! I don't smoke or drink and I don't drink pop or eat sweets and I brush twice a day and use mouth wash :( why are they like this ? Was told it could be calcium lack of during pregnancies ?! Please help me :,( I am petrified ! Thanks in advance and thanks for listening to me moan like a baby x

Is it just staining? Is the mouthwash you are using called corsodyl?

HelenRosie · 25/10/2010 18:29

Lack of calcium during pregnancy won't affect your teeth, that is just an old wive's tail

Princienna · 25/10/2010 18:30

.....you can't tell the imperfections looking at me or when I smile but when I open my mouth I can see them :( back teeth that gave given way x

Ok teeth will only decay if you eat a lot of sugar. Do you grind your teeth? Probably best to wait until your appt and let them tell you what the problem is, but it is extremely hard to snap off your back teeth.

It's not uncommon I think for filled teeth to break. Often cavities start through a tiny hole in the enamel but make a much bigger hole inside the tooth, which is softer. To remove the ick and fill the tooth the dentist has to drill away more of the enamel which weakens the structure of the tooth. One of mine collapsed (also in pregnancy!) for this reason. I had an enormous filling put in to replace it.

Thanks Hali :) sounds similar x really scared though :( shouldn't be ! I had 4 c sections for crying out loud ! More scary then the dentist , just makes me cringe with the injections and drills etc :( xx

Oh, I'm crap at going to the dentist. It's the feeling of being pinned back with a light shining in my eyes!
But explain you are nervous, they'll understand. I find it helps when they explain what is going on and also I use my labour breathing and pretend to be elsewhere!

Get it sorted, you'll feel better afterwards.

I know , the worry and pain will be worth it :) thanks babe x x
