Cyst in Armpit - changing!

TitsalinaBumPumpkin · 22/10/2010 07:48

I noticed a hard pea sized lump in my armpit a few months ago, i went to the GP who poked it and imediatley said it was a harmless cyst.

Anyway its getting quite sore and has gone soft and squashy, its wider and not round anymore... i guess i need to go back to the GP again don't i?

Im freaking out, does anyone have any experience in this?

Yes go back, cysts do change and if it is sore you may want to have it removed, or drained perhaps. For your own peace of mind I would ask for it to be checked out properly, not because I think you have anything to be worried about, your GP clearly was pretty confident about what it was, but because it will nag at your mind if you don't Smile

For what its worth, I've had breast cancer, my lump was not soft and squashy, it didn't hurt, and my GP knew immediately it was cancer - oh and I'm still here Smile

I have also had a cyst in my neck which was very much as you describe, it hung around for years and eventually burst inside, but given the option I'd have had it removed earlier as it was a nuisance.
