SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 21/10/2010 19:48

Have had general head ache for a few days and it spread down to my neck and now my chest hurts.
Hurts when I move or breathe. Has got worse throgh the day.
DD has had a cold, also I ahve spent the last few nights hunched over breastfeeding her in bed, so not really stretching out comfortably iyswim.
That's it, isn't it?

you heartless lot anything could ahve happened in the time you're ignoring me :)
As it is, they feel better when I sit still. I'm sure it's muscular (and yes, I know the heart is a muscle!) and would go if I had a decent night's sleep
ARE YOU LISTENING DD???

does it hurt less if you lean forwards.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 21/10/2010 21:53

erm yes, I think so. Does that indicate muscular?

You need to see your GP. Sounds like pleurisy/something like this.

alypaly · 21/10/2010 22:00

if your little one has got a bad cold...sometimes the cold virus can give someone pericarditis which can be diagnosed on the fact that if you lean forwrd ,the pain goes. also if the doc can hear a slight rub in the membrane round your heart.

have you had a cough recently.
are you more uncomfortable lying flat

pushmepullyou · 21/10/2010 22:00

I remember having a lot of neck, chest and upper back pains when I was breastfeeding, so it could well be that. Do you feel well otherwise? No temp, wheezing, breathlessness etc?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 21/10/2010 22:06

If it is worse I will do something tomorrow. I defintiely have something a the moment, feels like the start of a head cold, geneal aching from the chest up and a slight sore throat. So might be linked to that. Don;t know about lying flat, will report back in the morning!
I did assume it was bf related, specifically feeding DD all night for 2 or 3 nights on the trot. Will have to see how she is tonight.
Thanks everyone

Sorry you are feeling so rough - but thank you as you have reminded me to talk my inhalers as my lungs are reacting to the dust cloud i have been creating with decluttering.

There is a nasty virus going about that is giving people a temp and affecting breathing but other then that you dont feel too bad. Nearly ended up in A&E twice with it recently. It affects asthmatics badly. Glad you are considering going to the doc's tomo.

blinks · 22/10/2010 02:38

could also be chest wall pain/costochondritis

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 22/10/2010 06:27

Thanks everyone I feel much better this morning, chest pain has gone. I had a better night with DD, though I fed her lots I slept unattached :o So I bet that's all it was.
BatBrains - glad to have been of service :)

Hi, Glad you are feeling better. The problem could also be a spinal problem with an associated rib problem. This is quite common in breast-feeding mums. The key difference between this and a chest infection is that the spinal problem is more likely to change in intetensity with changes in position eg easier lying rather than sitting. Also with an infection you are likely to feel unwell and have a temperature. If it comes back see your GP. For more info on neck and shoulder pain
