here we go !

Cakesandale · 24/11/2010 13:03

SR - I think that's right Fat= more risk of cancer. Bummer.

smee · 24/11/2010 13:14

Ah, I get it now SR. Good to know you're feeling more energetic then, as that will surely help. Am intrigued by the thirst thing, as I hadn't clicked that was chemo related. Quite cheered me up to know it might go! Sorry you're so achey though. I think exercise is supposed to help with aches, but am not sure where I heard that.

Cakes, having a bullet marked head makes you sound intriguing, but I hope the scab goes soon. Hark at you with 2 exercise classes!!

Cakesandale · 24/11/2010 13:16

Oh yes, aqua aerobics, which is just a laugh really, then stretch'n'tone which is a bit more energetic and does seem to help the back a bit.

Cakesandale · 24/11/2010 13:17

PS - the thirst thing definitely lifts, it is just the body trying to cleanse itself of all the crap. Not long to go now, smee.

SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 14:20

Yeah Smile for the eyelashes smee - that is fab news.

Cakes how did the reunion dinner go....bullet shaped scare and all, or is that tonight?

MAS You sound very clam about your ds, I could take lessons from you in that....I tend to get myself in a bit of a state Blush

I have not been on for a few days as I started with a allergic reaction to the meds. Saw the gp who pulled me straight off them, rolled his eyes at the dx and decisions of the breast consultant, has organised for me to have a swab of the discharge taken and analaysed to see if there is an infection and match the antibiotics appropriately. He said the dose I had been put on was rather like treating it with a nuclear bomb! He thinks it isn't duct ectasia but may be polyps of something else, but as usual he has lovely and supportive and positive.

Hummm wine tonight I think! Grin

SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 14:21

The thirst thing sounds horried smee - hope that goes for you soon.

Cakesandale · 24/11/2010 14:23

Sorry you've been unwell sparkles, but Gp sounds excellent. Glad he os looking after you, here's to a better diagnosis (and to wine)

Reunion was fine thanks. I just didn't mention the bullet, draped my fringe around it instead!

KurriKurri · 24/11/2010 14:29

hello all, - have done a bit of Christmas shopping this morning, - bought some fancy bun trays from Lakeland for DD - she is a keen baker. I will also get her a few bits from the camping/hiking shop as she belongs to a walking club and goes hiking most weekends. And is planning another inter railing trip to Eastern Europe at Easter.

Cakes - Size 12 is a distant memory for me!Grin And I am almost the same size as you at 5'2". It wasn't too bad when I was exercising every day - because I did look reasonably fit tho' fat. But I can't exercise much at the moment.

However I've had a piece of toast and marmite for breakfast, a coffee + skimmed when I was out, and an orange and a banana for lunch. So not too rubbishy. (I also went through a stage of waking up hungry in the night).

But it's nice to have a bit of support and encouragementSmile my GP is a bit dismissive of my weight increase, - he just says its very hard to lose thyroid weight Sad, and doesn't really offer any solutions. I almost wish someone would tell me off - it's better than 'never mind, just get used to being a bloater'.

The DVD came today, it looks a good film. And yesterday DH (much to his bemusement)won a copy of Gok Wan's autobiography. Grin

Stitches are the dissolvable kind - but I pulled one out because it was like a piece of nylon fishing line hanging out of the cut and didn't look as if it would ever melt. [grim emoticon]

KurriKurri · 24/11/2010 14:36

x-posted. Sorry you've been poorly Sparkle - but your GP does sound very nice. Now the ABs have stopped, I'd say breaking out the wine is compulsory.

SR - glad the arimidex is going well, do you have to take calcium tablets and have bone density checks with it, or am I thinking of something else? And yes you are right about the risks of getting over weight, thats why I worry about it Sad Keep nagging you are doing a good job Smile

SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 14:40

KK your dh is a competition fiend isn't he....Grin I am sure he will find Gok an interesting read Grin

SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 14:40

I have a monster rash....but I am sure that wine will help!

Cakesandale · 24/11/2010 14:49

Thats the ABs - wine will def help!

I'll bet Gok's book is interesting. I like him!

smee · 24/11/2010 14:51

Hello Sparkle, was wondering how you are. Wine is essential I'd say. Very good for getting rid of rashes. Grin

Kurri, eeugh with the stitch pulling!! You win the bravery prize. Not sure why that makes me so squeamish, but it does.

SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 14:57

Hi Smee I am doing ok, very itchy and uncomfortable, but looking forward to the wine now, have already called dh and told him to bring some home with him Grin

I like Gok too, I would love to be "Goked" if it wasn't for the fact they film it.....I just need someone in real life to do that for me....and give me a budget of £1000 for new clothes....where is that lottery ticket again

KurriKurri · 24/11/2010 15:01

Sorry for TMI about the stitches Grin

meant to say Smee - I also had the thirst thing, it will go. And definitely treat yourself at Christmas, - it's so nice to be able to taste properly once chemo finishes.

I like Gok too, I think it will be an interesting read. DH doesn't really know who Gok is, he is about as far from interested in fashion as it is possible to be.Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2010 15:36

oh my, I go to Sainsbury's and you all post like mad Grin
And someone has made off with my frosty bag and stash of saved up carrier bags- bastards.
So sorry you've been troubled by the antibiotics Sparkle- what a nice sounding, sensible GP though.
Eeeeee ! don't mention stitches,or pulling [queasy emoticon]
I am calm about ds as I've been through the same thing with my spleen,so it's a known thing- though mum has made me feel as though perhaps i should worry/notice more- dad said ds looked very pale yesterday Confused. Trying to find out info online about when spleens are removed prophylactically ion children...(is that the right word ?)

sandripples · 24/11/2010 15:38

KK you certainly sound as though you've had a very virtuous day. And Cakes too with the ex. classes later.

I am (whispering) size 18 and 5'5. I hate seeing my shape in shop mirrors, as I have done today. Don't have many mirrors at home so its a Shock. Was probably good for me to get that shock today - bit more reason to keep out of the biscuit box.

Did I tell you I sat through a 2 hour meeting yesterday and there was a big box of mince-pies on the table and I didn't have one? Was quite proud of myself. It helped that I'd brought a banana to eat instead! I don't approve of mince pies in NOvember anyway,

KK your daughter has useful hobbies when it comes to present buying - our DD is still waiting for her saxophone she requested for her 21st, so the cost of that might mean it becomes combined with Christmas. DS wants a new guitar. I've managed to post off nearly all pressies for my 10 great-nephews/nieces today- always a big relief but more so this year as three of them are having their 1st Xmas so the list was even longer.

Hang in there Sparkle and everone else with rashes/aches/ongoing troubles.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2010 15:48

hooray- Sainsbury's say frosty bag is safely behind the customer services counter !!
Don't approve of mince pies in November either- I can take them or leave them anyway Grin Rum truffle cakes quite a different plate of deliciousness.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 16:22

I love mince pies but I have been walking past them virtuously, hoping it will stave off the reality of xmas being a month away and not having got ANYTHING yet

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2010 16:23

mmm,yummy

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 24/11/2010 16:25

Ooo will be when I feel slightly less sick anyway Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2010 16:30

KurriKurri · 24/11/2010 16:52

MAS - that is worse than my stitches Grin

sandripples · 24/11/2010 17:57

Oh gross!

sandripples · 24/11/2010 19:59

KK - forgot to say that yes I do have to have bone density checks. I had a baseline check before I started so expect I'll get another in a year or something. Do you have these with Tamoxifen? I don't have to take calcium though. (not yet anyway)

So, back to shopping. I have bought a lovely soft pink cardigan with frilly bits, a pair of black velevt trousers and a black undervest - well about 4 black underthingies. I'm sure I'll manage to put an outfit together and then I might take one or two pieces back when I've decided against them. Had been hoping to wear cerise/black outfit I already have but want to keep warm so the cardigan seems a better option. And its lovely. Will wear boots under the trousers, and possibly tights as well - then there's the risk of hot flushing and not being to take everything off Grin
