39 is getting on a bit but start to really worry when they hit 40 - hopefully it won't happen.

NannyL · 13/09/2005 09:20

as a guide
37 = normal
38 = SLIGHTLY under the weather, but nothing seriouse, just keep an eye
39 = person is ill, call a Dr
40 = VERY high, call a Dr ASAP

showing a bit of a temp probably getting a virus nothing more.

keep her cool though, no quilt on, perhaps a thin blanket. Calpol is good if her temp is rising. You can also take Calpol and Calprofen (or equivalent) at intervals but together IYKWIM, ie a couple of hours apart.

dd3 temp was in the 39 points for 2 days. i called the doc last night as alturnating calpol/neurofen wasnt bringing it down. i was doing everythign right, (sponging her down, was in a nappy only, keeping her cool etc) so he said to carry on doing that, and if she wasnt better by this afternoon then take her to the GP, but fortunatly it seems to have all gone now. she didnt have any other symptons.

temps are strange - sometimes it's so obvious what is wrong and other times the temp rises for no apparent reason. They do it to scare us!
