Severe PMT/PMDD

I have suffered from this for quite a few years, to the point of severe depression for 2-3 days of each month, anger, violence, frustration and not being able to speak to people. I know a lot of women suffer from PMT but this is different- the feeling over overwhelming doom and anxiety that grips me each month is becoming unmanagable.

We have been TTC for 4 years now and after much soul searching I am going back on the pill for a while to have a break (I think my lovely husband is fearing for his safety!!) and I just wondered if anyone here also sufferes from the same thing and what steps you took to improve symptoms or what pill you went on?? I have been on 40mg fluoxetine for it before but dont really want to go on that again!!!

My sister had this and found that supplements such as St Johns wort, and vitamins helped. There are some good books out there that would give you more info. You might want to avoid the SJW if you are TTC but could probably get away with the vitamins etc.
I once was told that people on Japan don't have a word for PMT because it doesn't exist there, maybe due to thier diet. Not sure if that is true or not but is an interesting idea.
