TENS for back pain?

I have a knackered back. Seen physio - have exercises. Im fed up with hurting and drugs making me woozy (have to resort to hefty drugs when i's really bad - keep it under control with not so hefty ones when it is not so bad)

Anyway - I'm thinking of trying a TENS. Anyone with experience?

How long do you use it for?

Do you use it every day? or just when it's bad?

I got through a torn disc with a tens machine from boots. I couldn't have done without it. I used it for as long as I could each day, probably hours, when the pain was bad. I would say definitely try it.

so you just attach it, crank up the buzzing and leave it on?

if i'm working would it be worth putting it on during breaktimes?

Yes, basically. I'd say wear it as much as you can, so break times, yes. Funnily enough I had a different one for childbirth, and it didn't help the pain at all. But the boots one has always helped my back pain hugely.

I've had one for years, after having a free trial from the local Pain Clinic before purchasing. Only problem is that you have to have it correctly placed, or it may not work, and sometimes it just doesn't work!
However, I think every home should have one.

I use mine frequently. I have a really poor L1/S5 bit of back and the pain is really intense sometimes. I find that I can move much more freely if I use it, I've been known to wander round our town with the contraption on.
I think it cost me about £25 from boots.
