Hi, I have terrible thrush at the moment I have suffered with it for years from time to time and havent had it for quite a while. I did take Tesco's own brand oral tablet and I have been using canestan cream but it doesnt seem to be clearing up I usually buy the Canestan brand and it works. Im just wondering if the ingredients in Tescos own is as good. Can anyone advice please :-)

they are exactly the same. You are just paying for the brand name with canestan and diflucan.

Have you recently had a course of antibiotics.

you may need to go to the docs and get a weeks course of the 50mg capsule as you cant buy that over the counter

Canesten seems to stop working after a while - I think you get resistant to it somehow. Basically it treats the exterior surface, but does nothing for the internal condition, which is the real problem.

I had massive problems with thrush for years and years, and eventually went for food allergy testing. The woman was a bit of a hippy and I was pretty cynical about the whole thing; she put me on an incredibly hardcore diet which pretty much involved eating brown rice and veg. The thing is, it worked amazingly well. I didn't even stick to it religiously, and now I eat whatever I like. The thrush has never come back. So I'd definitely recommend it!

Hope you're feeling better :)

Wow southernfairy, my DD had to do that earlier this year. Paid a nutritionist @ £200 but it worked.

Before she was using a tablet and 2 lots of pessaries to shift it and it would be back a couple of weeks later.

It's apparently an overgrowth of candida in the gut. If you basically ditch all sugar, refined carbs and yeast for at least 8 weeks it starves to death.

Was bloody awkward tbh, but so worth it.
