Hi

I'm asthmatic, i have got a awful chest infection. I went to the out of hours service on monday night and they gave me amoxicillan, pregnisalone 40 mg, a nebuliser and loads of extra inhalers.

I'm no better, my mum thinks i should go back to the hospital now as my breathing is laboured and i am now coughing up chunks of stuff (i know it's disgusting).

The only problem is my ds, i have no one to look after him, my mum lives 85 miles away, my brother wont come over, says he's too busy and dp's family live miles away, i dont drive neither does anyone in his family, to put ds in a taxi would cost around 35 quid each way and i just dont have 70 pounds to spend on a taxi. I called dp at work and his boss wont let him go. he finishes at 9

what do i do?

Obviously, can you call upon a neighbour??

Can you not take him with you and then pick him up on the way back home?

Whereabouts are you?

Evenstar · 06/10/2010 17:47

I think if you are ill enough to need an ambulance they might let him come with you until someone could get there and take him away. You could try ringing out of hours doctor and getting them to come out to you, but they may just ring the ambulance anyway if you are having breathing difficulties. Is there a neighbour or friend you could call on to take you to hospital and look after DS?

How old is your DS? I'd really just take him with me. It's not like you're going to have an operation or anything really intimate like a gynae exam...?

mummysgoingmad · 06/10/2010 17:48

im in glasgow, i have recently moved in to my house and dont know the neighbours well enough to ask. should i just take him with me?

His boss won't let him go to get his partner to hospital??????? Second what itsjustafleshwound has suggested.

Evenstar · 06/10/2010 17:48

I would, but are you OK to drive yourself there?

Itsjustafleshwound · 06/10/2010 17:49

Sorry - can't you take him with you and let your DP pick him up when he is finished work??

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/10/2010 17:49

yes, take him with you and get your DP to come straight to hospital after work if you are still there

lal123 · 06/10/2010 17:49

Is there a hospital or outofhours centre closer to you?

mummysgoingmad · 06/10/2010 17:55

yes i'm about a mile away for the hospital is has an out of hours service, i think i'll just take him with me surely the hospital staff will understand?
