Silver Fish ?

Have found some silver fish in the bath, also in a kitchen cupboard ! I've carefully cleaned everything, but where have they come from? Can you get infections from them? How do I get rid of them?
What worked for you?

swiperfox · 08/09/2005 19:40

I've seen one in the house we've just moved into, in the kitchen... are they nasty little things?

SleepySuzy · 08/09/2005 19:41

They like damp places, you can buy a spray to get rid of them.

Twiglett · 08/09/2005 19:42

they're only insects, they aren't dangerous .. cleaning them up won't get rid of them though you'd need an insecticide

I found 3 of these running around in the dogs bowl tonight, they couldn't climb out. I didn't want to throw them down the sink plug hole so I chucked them out the street door instead!

pepsi · 17/09/2005 21:17

I remember them in a corner of our kitchen when we were kids. Funnily enough the the cats food bowl. They came out in the evening. The cat would generally spot them and try catching them. Dont suppose you have a cat who can eat them have you?

kid · 17/09/2005 22:20

My mum has a cat but I don't think I'll borrow him!
I almost didn't see them, I was just about to put the meat in the bowl. They were sitting very still so I didn't realise what they were at first. I have also seen a few of them just under the heater. I must remember to get something to get rid of them.

greenbean · 18/09/2005 13:32

We've had them for years in our bathroom. I've never even thought about getting rid of them, they are harmless.
