4yo persistent loo trips but no UTI - what to do?

DD is just 4, and is currently going to the loo every 10 to 15 mins. this is now day 5. i took her to the dr today ,and he doesnt think it is a UTI from a dip test, but has sent a sample off. it is causing real problems as we cant go anywhere that deosnt have a loo, and it is generally a total pain.

she is not complaining of it hurting although she has been fiddling with her bits occasionally.
any ideas please, either of what it might be or what to do about it?

Rewards - If you can wait till the end of Charlie and Lola then you can have a sticker?

olivo · 29/09/2010 18:47

it might - unfortunately we've relied on rewards a bit much recently with starting school and night wakings. may be worth a try though.thanks.

She might have an irritation in her urethra without it being an infection.

Don't use any products in her bath, and just use water to wash her bottom/front parts. Make sure she has plenty to drink - although it will make her go more it will dilute her urine so it feels less irritating for her.

Another thought, possibly way off the mark, - but does she have any anxiety about using the loos at school, if she was worried about being able to go when she wants to, or asking to go or something, she might have started going more often out of anxiety (to try and make herself sure she won't need to go IYSWIM)

Could she be constipated??
My DS2 suffers from constipation and the only way we know he needs a 'clear out' is when he starts going for a wee every 20 mins... it presses on his bladder. He usually poos every day but not enough and it gradually builds up.

Worth getting GP to check...

thank you both - thinking about it, could be either. she has had some lurid bath stuff recently, and also has struggled with getting poos out a bit.

what can i give to loosen her up? would lactulose be ok?

My urine was dipsticked and came back clear and also my msu was clear too, but I still had a uti and it ended up in my kidneys, so don't rule out an infection.
