Chronically lightheaded for 3 months

Please help ladies - going insane with this. Have felt lightheaded every day for last 3 months, not dizzy, more like I've just stepped off a boat or am on an airport travelator. Had blood tests and everything is normal, blood pressure normal too. Continue to feel dreadful though - I'm sure Dr thinks I'm depressed, but if I am, it's down to the lightheadedness! I eat, drink and sleep normally, no new drugs. Friends wonder if it's an inner ear thing but doc is sceptical b/c lack of vertigo - any ideas, desperate to feel like my old self again.

No 'new' drugs suggest you are on drugs for something. Have you had a review of your medicine lately?
I have a problem with my inner ear which raises itself every now and then- labyrinthitis, when I get that I feel truly sick though and can barely stand straight.

How old are you cosy ? I have been having issues with something that sounds very like your symptoms, for probably nearly a year now. I think with me it could be hormonal as I am at the age where I could be starting the menopause. Like you I have had tests and no cause has been found but my gp has put me on beta histine tablets, which are a treatment for menieres disease and I have been feeling a lot better.

I'm 32 - my hunch has always been that it's inner ear related - my ears often feel plugged and I am constantly congested behind my nose but my nostrils are clear. Would you mind explaining what led your GP to prescribe the meds you're on?

Perhaps it is sinus related then cosy. I have sinus problems and blocked ears too and I think that it can make you feel lightheaded. I researched my symptoms - I also have tiniitus and menieres came up so I just mentioned this to my gp and he prescribed the betahistine.

I took it with no hope really of it helping as I don't really think I have menieres but as it has very few side effects I thought I would try it as it is horrible feeling lightheaded or dizzy. It does seem to have helped though, so who knows. My feeling was that mine was possibly hormonal or sinus related. The betahistine helps relieve the pressure in your ears so may well be worth you trying if your gp will prescribe it.

I had this very severely about 4 years ago. It has improved greatly but I still get the occassional mild "odd" spell.

I had endless tests. The found nothing. In the end they told me it was panic attacks - which I find odd as it would happen to me sometimes when I was cuddled upto DH on the sofa chilling out watching TV (amongst other times). The panic attacks never really washed with me but thats what they insisted it was. The only deviation from that diagnosis was that it was all in my head - as in my imagination.Angry

I gave up going to the Dr in the end. I have lived with it but it has effected things I do. I no longer drive long distance as I am too scared in case I have another funny spell.

Like I say 4 years on - it improved but not gone totally.

my nan had this so badly that she had to have vertigo medication for it. i cant remember what it was in the end but i think it might have been a mineral deficiency or something. Will ask my mum when she gets back from hol, but that wont be for over a week.
