Yes, how long have you had the cough?
Is it dry or wet?
Any phlegm?

Yes some phlegm but is clear - so was unsure about taking another lot of antibiotics which is when nurse practitioner (usually fab)got short with me - I did try to tell here how weak I am and constant headache but think she had that Friday feeling

If I lie on my left side breathing is easier but not clear - I have a fit if I lie on my right - not sure if is relevant -

reluctant to call oh as already have the erytromycin

Sorry have had cough for 4 weeks - but getting worse not better

pompncircumstance · 25/09/2010 22:21

If the antibiotics havent already worked they probably won't and if phlegm is clear it is most likely not sue to infection. Have you had any chest pain?

Gotabookaboutit · 25/09/2010 22:26

Thats why is reluctant to take more antibiotic

not so much chest pain but I ache all over and my temp is up and down even with an all in one flu tablet - starting to feel very sick 2

Pneumonia? Had a chest Xray yet? GET one
Poor you..

take paracetamol to get temp down,

eat natural yoghurt.

Take meds on a full tummy.

rest...

Gotabookaboutit · 25/09/2010 22:32

tx - nurse did say I might need a x ray - but just panicking about next wekk - wondered if anyone had any snakeoil to cure me :)

pompncircumstance · 25/09/2010 22:38

Gota, if your breathing gets worse or you have any chest pain. I would go to he A and E. I think they should send you for a chest X ray too, especially if you don't have a cold/other flu symptoms.
Sometimes the only way you get checked out properly in the UK is to go to A and E.
It could also be an allergy or asthma.

Gotabookaboutit · 25/09/2010 22:46

thanks pomp - and everyone - going to try and sleep and see how I am in the morning - will def go to A&e if gets worse

I'd second getting seen again. Just as an aside, I know lots of people (including myself!) who can't take erythromycin because of the extreme nausea/ vomiting it causes, so if you are starting to feel sick, i'd stop taking it until you speak to a doctor again. Hope you feel better soon

Undutchable · 25/09/2010 22:55

Erythromycin makes me puke every time I take it. It's well known for it.

Gotabookaboutit · 27/09/2010 20:23

Just want to say thanks to everyone for their support the other night - Have officially got something a bit'' odd'' there just not sure what yet lol - Had blood tests and having an xray tomorrow ;)

Good Luck.
Hope they get to the bottom of it and it's all better soon!

Gotabookaboutit · 14/10/2010 23:08

Hi just wanted to get back - had a bout of pneumonia and ended up in hospital but was good in the long run - they think I either have a very persistent post viral cough or adult onset asthma - have now got lots of steroids and some inhalants and get to see the repository consultant next week rather than in 7/8 weeks

Thanks:) nice to know sort of what it is to be honest and that either is very manageable.

Hated hospital - was sad and depressed @the rubbish management and lovely but overstretched staff
