Penicillin when pregnant.

My GP has said it's okay to take penicillin whilst pregnant. Obviously this is a definite answer from the professional but I was wondering whether any MNers have had any adverse side affects from taking this?

I'm not allergic and 4 weeks pregnant. I'm only really asking as I hate taking any sort of medication whilst pregnant but want to clear up an infection.

No adverse effects here. I'm allergic to antibiotics so had to take penicillin when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. I don't even like to take paracetamol but the doctor reassured me it'd be fine and it was certainly better than not taking it! Hope you feel better soon.

I'm allergic to penicillin but have taken another antibiotic when pregnant.......twice during my first pregnancy IIRC. It was fine and no adverse effects.

Great, thanks ladies. I know I should listen to the professionals but also like to just find out from others 'just incase'. Have started taking them. This is DC3 and I still get nervous in the first 12 weeks. Smile
