He really needs to see someone and said to me this mornig that he can't afford it.

Don't think he is registered with one but he says his mother has a dentist so he may be.

He has been on antibiotics for his gums about 6 weeks ago ,cleared up slowly but they are bad again.

Can you reassure him that it won't cost him the earth to get some treatment.

If he's that hard up he might be entitled to help with nhs charges - tell him to fill in a hc1 form.

brimfull · 19/09/2010 10:30

thanks, have looked it up
is that for help with travel costs or treatment costs

he's not on any benefits

It helps with dental, travel, prescriptions, opticians etc. You don't have to be on benefits, its income assessed.

brimfull · 19/09/2010 10:53

thanks will tell him

buy a bottle of corsdyl and remind him to brush teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each time. try not to eat all the time. if he smoke try and get him to cut it down. go back to basics and it'll improve slowly!
also agree with going to a dental school

brimfull · 19/09/2010 11:01

no dental school near herer
have told him about corsodyl and flossing/brushing, he does this already
he doesn't smoke

thnks for advice

Is he lethargic, pale, sleepy? (Come to think of it that probably applies to lots of 18 year olds)

brimfull · 19/09/2010 17:25

ggirl Is there a hospital with a Maxillo-Facial/Emergency Dental Dept near to you? Usually these depts are in hospitals with an A+E Dept.
Dental Teaching Hospital is another good option.
