Help - I have a wisdom tooth growing out of the side of my gum

Only noticed it this morning - I feel like a freak - what will the dentist do? I am 37 FTR.

not sure about FTR but I had this when I was 21 and the dentist let it grow out a bit and then whipped it out... did not hurt a bit and none of the others made an appearance after that !!

Dp has this and was told 6m ago that he would need both top wisdom teeth taking out, however at a recent checkup his teeth had sort of grown down a bit and dentist has now said no need to remove them.
