Having mirena coil fitted....

...and my boss has asked me to chair an important meeting at 6pm on the same day. Coil fitting is at 12.30.

I've never had a coil before and am wondering if the fittingit will make me feel shitty and need to take rest of the day off work? In which case will need to make some kind of vague medical appointment excuse to my boss and bow out of the meeting or change the coil appointment.

Any thoughts?

I had my coil fitted last year and it was painful afterwards, felt like very bad period pains/earl labour. If you can re-arrange your meetng I definitely would! Go home, take some painkillers and rest.

Hope it goes well Smile

I felt like crap for a few hours and had to have a sick bowl near me during the fitting.

Not sure I'd feel up to a meeting myself but then I am a bit of a wuss.

I would take some painkillers half to one hour beforehand too.
It's not actually very painful, but you do feel rough afterwards.

I was in pain for the following 2 days afterwards, also with moderate bleeding. Worth it in the long term but definately needed rest afterwards.

Yup, I'd defo take painkillers beforehand too.

Or maybe I'm just a wuss too...

I felt absolutely fine afterwards. Did take diclofenac beforehand though so was probably away with the fairies!
