Heart palpitations...

I'm having a few problems lately. Periods went missing. Scan showed polycistic ovaries. Blood tests showed abnormal thyroid levels (if that is an actual term, not sure what thyroid should be, but was told not completely normal, and must test again within 3 months)

Inability to lose weight, despite diet and excercise.

And for about a week now, have had heart palpitations, it feels like my heart will skip a beat, then beat rapidly. It actually kind of feels like I have a sore chest.

Not sure if any of this is linked, was hoping someone could shed some light?

Thyroid hormones regulate your metabolism. Too much, hyperthyroidism, makes you lose weight, feel hot and sweaty, anxious and panicky with possible palpitations.

Too little, hypothyroidism, makes you gain weight, feel cold, depressed and tired all the time, dry lack-lustre skin and hair but can also have an effect on your heart.

Polycystic ovaries means you have excess testosterone and oestrogen. Losing weight helps reverse this, so it could be linked to hypothyroidism. Metformin, hormone therapy or laser treatment can help.

Go back to your GP with your cardiac symptoms.

The good news is that it is easy to treat thyroid problems.
