Invisalign (transparent) teeth braces - anyone tried with a good result?

Has anyone had these? Would they give the same outcome as wires or do they work differently?

My colleague is having this at the moment, and it's working really well for her

Does it hurt much when she goes to the next set?
Also, do you happen to know how many sets (roughly) she needs to have?

Its uncomfortable for the first day when she swaps, but not hugely.
Can't remember how many sets, but think it was just over a year to do
