Posted about a friend who had shadow on lung- shown up on X ray- and a cough. Referred for CT scan which showed nothing at all. GP sent her back to chest clinic for more tests and they are querying CT results- it was done privately at another hospital ( all in London).

They have not yet got the CT scan results.
But why would a shadow not show up on a CT scan yet show something on X ray?

Not a doc, but it could be artifact on the x-ray (had artifact on a CT which looked like blood clots but turned out not to be).

I hope the check of the CT sorts everything for your friend.

Thanks but they did 2 X rays to discount what you said, before CT scan.

I am worried and so is she- they said that the Xray lookedlike pneumonia or TB but not quite- too solid.
She is a total non smoker and no passive smoking but I did have a friend with secondary lung cancer who had the same cough etc. and shadow on lung.

I remember this PP. I'm not sure unless the time between X ray and CT was enough for whatever it was to clear.

CT is usually more reliable I would have thought. How odd.

Well the gap was about a week.

The thing is she still has the cough which is why her GP referred her back to the chest clinic for more tests, thinking it might be an allergy etc. They have not yet had the CT scan result to look at- have requested it-but the dr at the chest clinic was worried when she saw the X rays, referred the matter to a consultant who says they must have the CT scan to look at ( it was done at a private hosptial in Harley Street).

The other thing is that when they did the CT scan they had not- as far as my friend knows- got a copy of her X rays to compare, so she is worried they might have missed something.
