Wisdom Tooth Extraction and Root Canal Work in London

Help needed from any dental experts!

I need to have a wisdom tooth extracted (impacted and decayed) and the dentist has said that I might want to have the other one taken out at the same time.

I also need to have root canal work done on a back molar, because of problems caused by the wisdom tooth.

I can get the wisdom tooth extraction covered under BUPA - any advantages to doing so? Do they do it under local or general anaesthetic? Has anyone had wisdom teeth done at the Eastman Dental Hospital or any of the London private hospitals? Recommendations needed.

Do you think it is worth going private for the Root canal? I can get it done by my own dentist or pay a lot more to be referred to the specialist. He could also do it under the NHS.

Thanks.

Wisdom tooth removal is usually under general anaesthetic. But the removal of the wisdom tooth may relieve the pressure on the tooth next door, so after a few weeks the root canal work may not be needed after all.

my dad has terrible teeth - he has one held in by a brass screw!!!! His teeth are causing less pain etc since he has been going regularly to Guys and St Thomas's - he reckons they are the best dentists he's ever been to and he's been to alot!! (he's only 56 by the way)
