Doing a poo, you know as you do. And suddenly felt all hot and faint and dizzy and had to lye on the floor for half an hour. It was awful. Pooing is dangerous!

That's not normal, you realise. Anything else going on? Was it a bog-standard poo?

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 29/08/2010 22:57

Am fine, Happened before. Its just such a horrible feeling knowing if you dont lye down you will fall and smack your head on sink/radiator

do you have BP issues?

the force of straining could have had some sort of effect on it?

Erm Giraffes, this ain#t normal...Confused

From what I know it is due to BP

Get your self checked out!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 29/08/2010 23:04

What the others said re getting checked out.

But PMSL at "bog standard poo". "I'm sorry, ma'am, but your poo is not up to the standard of this bog..."

hobbgoblin · 29/08/2010 23:06

Yes, it is to do with constricting blood flow when you strain or summink. You need to see GP whenever you next can and have a chat about it.

Am 25 pixie Grin

Am a bit of a fainter. Feels same as when I cough lots or blow up a balloon.

My DD gets this sometimes when she has a shower (so always leaves the door unlocked), in her case it's low blood pressure.

I've also felt similar when taking iron tablets, in case that's relevant to you.

hobbgoblin · 29/08/2010 23:09

Look up vasovagal syncope :)

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 30/08/2010 06:15

thanks hobb yes that seems to be it.

Kurri when I am ill I dont have showers for hat reason as I worry about that, I just have a wash at sink (better a bit pongy than head split open Grin)

It's kind of called the valsalva manouvre(spelling). Basically when you strain ie have a poo you stimulate the vagal nerve which causes your heart rate to drop. Not massivly but this procedure is used when people have very fast heart rates, it slows it down. From what I remember you have had cardiac probs in the past. Best to get it checked out.
Otherwise, if the said poo was the size of a babies arm, that might have something to do with it Wink

BalloonSlayer · 30/08/2010 07:47

Um yes it's best to get checked out.

People like Elvis, and one of the British Kings (forget which one), who died while sitting on the loo did so not because of bad luck but because of the blood pressure/cardiac issues mentioned above.

Sitting on the toilet is a very common place to have a stroke, and reading that has made me start laughing, but I am serious.
