I can't stop being sick after drinking wine last night!

I know, i know, its a hangover but it doesn't feel like one.

I had 4 glasses of wine and 1 sambuca last night, first night out in like 18m, as I have DS who is 9m and a 4yo

Was sick when I got home, after stupidly having a drag on DHs rollie.

This morning I woke up feeling hungover, badly so, was sick, over and over and over, then stopped, felt terrible, hour later all over again, this time green (bile i think?) so had some toast and more water, all came up and then some more, drinking peppermint tea and that is not staying down either.

It is completely disproportionate to the amount of alcohol I drank.

Is it just a hangover? or have i buggered up my tummy? I worry because throughout pregnancy, i was so physically sick throughout it i was on medication, and i ripped the lining of my stomach, i worry that I maybe weakened my tummy or something?

At least I know that 4 glasses of wine is excessive for me these days [sigh]

oh and I don't feel hungover in any other way, no headache apart from after being sick.

How big were the glasses? If 250mls you drank a bottle and a third and a short. Would make me pretty sick. However, the green bile, would make me think you have a virus if you have other symptoms like a temperature.

Poor you, hope you feel better soon.

SixtyFootDoll · 29/08/2010 13:48

Mixing drinks will make you sick, is prob the sambucca what done it!

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 13:55

175mls, medium sized.

it was the fag that actually did it, just worried as to why I can't now seem to stop.

the vomit it a sort of flourescent green/yellow, even when I have drunk water.

I still have some Metaclopromide from when I was suffering from HG but can I take it while breastfeeding? I don't have the leaflet any more. If I could take that, it might help.

oh and no other symptoms, although i do feel hot, just sort of presumed that was inevitable due to being sick!

I think if it was the wine you would have been sick once or twice at the most.

I once drank pretty much every available drink at a bar (I was 15), and even then I was only sick once.

Sounds more like a bug to me.

Hpoe you feel better soon.

Prinnie · 29/08/2010 14:01

That's still a whole bottle of wine you drank, that would make me really sick!

louloubelle · 29/08/2010 14:01

Also very sick through my 4 pregnancies, and the time I first had more than a couple of glasses of wine after each baby I was the same as you. I reckon that the body is just not used to the alcohol after such a long time without...the heat is your body processing it! It gets better, the hangovers are never as bad as the first one!

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 14:01

maybe it was a dirty glass or something? I remember once when younger I had one half pint of guinness when out and threw up so badly for a whole day...

I used to have days like this after a night drinking not very much alcohol.

I finally figured out that I was allergic to something in Budweiser - half a glass made me hurl ALL DAY the next day.

P'raps your body is reacting to something that you drank rather than the amount you drank

traceybath · 29/08/2010 14:01

I've been that sick in the past from alcohol.

You did drink quite a bit and mixed them and had a cigarette and you probably have very little tolerance nowadays. Had you eaten much yesterday?

Sips of water and a banana if you can face it.

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 14:04

squonk yes, possibly the sambuca as sixtyfootdoll said ! I have not had one of those since uni days, my body probably wondered what on earth it was.

It was just a nice civilised evening out with two girlfriends, just sat chitchatting til midnight, not even like I was out all night partying! and I so annoyed as DS slept through the night for the first time ever, and I did not even get to enjoy it as i felt rough.

I often was sick like that for a whole day after drinking, pretty much the reason I no longer drink.

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 14:06

traceybath yes I had a good meal before i went out, and breakfast and lunch as normal.

Water is not staying down, nor is food.

You know what? I still have some anti-emetic suppositories from when I was sick! I might go and see if there is a leaflet...can I take these while bf do you think

DH said this morning that he thinks my drinking days are over, i probably agree.

But its just so weird, I don't feel unwell or hungover in any other way, just my tummy.

This happens to me every time I drink more than a couple of glasses of wine I am sick until my stomach is completely empty and then retch acrid bile for the rest of the day. I think I must be allergic to wine but it is still my drink of choice. I went out last night and had one glass followed by 4 vodka and cokes and am fine today, if that had been wine I wouldn't have been able to get up.

Nemofish · 29/08/2010 14:14

This is what Dh calls Bad Beer.

Your stomach just rebels, alcohol is a poison after all, and we got less tolerant to it as we get older I think.

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 14:16

i normally drink white wine these days but had red last night. i don't mind average red but can't bear average white. should have just had a beer!

nemo my body has taken an awful awful battering since my last pg. First pg, I bounced back to my normal physical self straight away. This time, I have stretch marks, more grey hair, deep wrinkles, flabby tummy, i have put on weight and now weigh more than when i was pg!

I know it is the last thing you want to do right now, but if at all possible, wrap yourself up and go for a walk.
I very rarely drink, but had a crashing hangover a few weeks ago, and the only thing that helped was dragging myself out for some fresh air.
Hope you feel better soon.

Nemofish · 29/08/2010 14:29

Oh bless you, BigGirlSupport.

I have got to 33 and I realise now that I have to get lots of sleep and eat only the things that don't make me puke disagree with me or my health suffers - big time.

Somehow I always thought i'd be ancient older when that happened.

traceybath · 29/08/2010 14:35

More than one glass of wine nowadays and I feel dreadful the next day.

4 glasses and I would be like you.

Agree some fresh air and early bed.

BigGirlSupport · 29/08/2010 14:58

nemo 33 too, i feel older Grin.

Can't do walk as DS is asleep and dh is out. I was meant to be going sailing but not up for it! Can't anyway as the water has been polluted by sewage leak and its windy so likelihood of falling is high! warnings are to stay out of water. Makes me feel better, as it means I did not let my friend down!

I am watching peter pan returns to neverland with dd, we are curled on the sofa, with me pegging it to the bathroom every so often.

hey everyone, thank you all for the sympathies and advice.

DH came back from gp and I went for a kip for half hour, DH bought me some recovery lemon squash, woke up really thirsty had a huge glass of it and it stayed down!

No longer feel sick, just have a very sore neck for some reason Confused Grin.
