Tethersend/anyone help me with UTI?

I have been to see out of hours GP tonight as back/kidney pain getting quite bad.

Doctor did urine dip test and said everything normal apart from slight trace of blood and ketones high (said I had not eaten properly?).

Sent me home with advice to call back if I get a temp or burning when I wee (do not have either).

I have just done my own dip test as I have the tests at home and there is definately blood in my urine, not a trace but one + sign or 25 hem/ul, there are also white blood cells present - ++ or 125 along with ketones still and a trace of protein.

I have taken some more paracetomol and lying in bed but hard to sleep becuase of discomfort.

I rushed to the hosp straight from work and had been drinking loads of water and when I did the sample it was very weak ie. mainly water. Would this skew the results or at least dilute them?

Slightly concerned that there is more than a trace of blood now and there are definately white blood cells present.

I am 15 weeks pregnant.

You need to speak to NHS direct or your out of hour doctors straight away.

But they sent me home about 2 hrs ago?

Phone them and tell them what you've told us. Drinking a lot of water would obviously dilute your urine...

Ok I will call then again now...

Can you phone your local maternity ward and speak to a midwife for advice tonight? Then in the morning contact your own midwife and arrange for a urine sample to be sent off for testing.
If you get too uncomfortable and the blood and pain is worse just go to A&E tonight, at least then you'll get the sample tested and can get the correct treatment.

I had a UTI when I was 37 weeks pregnant but didn't have any symptoms of pain or blood, the only one I had was needing to go to the loo a lot , but I just assumed that was due to being heavily pregnant. It was only a routine urine test at ante natal appt that suggested anything as I had protein in my urine. Sample was sent off and it turned out I had pseudomonas aeruginosa and had to have IV antibiotics to treat it.
Im not trying to worry you but if you are concerned then get yourself checked out, no one would think you were being silly or time wasting.

Hope it all turns out ok, let us know how you get on

Just spoken to the doc I saw earlier and she has faxed a script for some different antibiotics to my pharmacy and my dh has gone to get it. This will be my 3rd course in 4 weeks! Got to go go my gp in the morning as well to get results for sample taken last Friday.
