Hi,
My DH has very high Blood Pressure, readings of 205 systolic at times. He is now on medication which has reduced it by some 25 to 30 . What does the future hold?

How old is he? What is his average BP?

Generally a life of tablet taking is all it will entail as long as everything else OK. Depends on his age.

Hi - he's 61, his BP is now aroung 178. Will his health deteriorate or improve?

If the blood pressure is controlled which it isn't at the moment. He should be able to live normally except for needing medications.

Is systolic the high number or the low one?

CaptainSquidBones · 27/08/2010 14:09

Systolic is the high number ; the lower number is diastolic. Need to be aiming for 140/80 really - unless diabetic or with kidney problems
