Had a Mirena coil out approx 8 weeks ago.

Have been TTC, but my 'peiods' have been light and erratic, been waiting for them to settle into a cycle so that I can chart my ovulation.

Period arrived on Thursday. Has been getting heavier ever since. Am currently using Tampax Super Plus with a large sanitary towel and soaking through both in about 1.5 hours. Feel absolutely shattered and ver tender in my stomach.

Anyone have any advice on if this is normal or not?

I would advise phoning NHS direct for further advice as that sounds very heavy. Hope you feel better soon 0845 4647

It's possible it is caused by an infection, or do you think it could be a miscarriage, if you have been TTC? Sad

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/08/2010 12:46

I think I would be wondering about miscarriage in your position :(

Definitely call your OOH service and see if you can get seen, because that does not sound normal to me at all. Just the bleeding - maybe a very heavy period, but with the tenderness as well suggests something else perhaps.

please call nhs direct. you need to rule out a mc/ep. you dont need to have had a period before you get pg. how many bleeds have you had? any other pains? cramping? backache? shoulderpain?

SleepyCaz · 21/08/2010 12:51

I did a test, the day before the bleeding started, and it was negative. I was a bit :(

I have no idea what it is. Am so tired.

On hold to OOH service.

Oh poor love.

i wonder if it might be usual to have heavier bleeding the first time, after the coil is removed? Or if they could possibly have left something in there, or caught you with it when they removed it.
Hope you can get seen today.

how aree you today?
