Diarrhoea and fever

I have had severe diarrhoea and fever for over 24 hours. Our gp services are crap at the weekend. Should I try to see a gp or go to the chemist, or am I better to just stay home and hope it stops?(I've been taking immodium but it doesn't seem to be making any difference).

I wouldn't take immodium for diarrhoea like this, let the body continue to flush it out. About how many lots of diarrhoea each day? Diarrhoea can easily last 5-7 days even if just a virus but it would normally start to reduce in severity after the first day or two.
NHS info here

Take dioralyte/other rehydration drinks plus other drinks and eat if you want to. I would see GP if you get blood in the diarrhoea, or if the fever lasts more than 48-72 hours.

Any vomiting with it? You can take paracetamol for the temperature.

Take sips of water or Diarolyte- def. not Imodium- you need to get rid of the bacteria/virus.

If it's any comfort, I had severe diarrhea and vomiting for 5 days- vomiting just for 1 day. I mean severe- I actually had soiling when asleep. I couldn't eat anything.

One tip when it slows down a bit- try a grated apple- grate and leave to stand for a n hour then eat etc. Old wives tale but has some medical back-up and worked for me.
