Hi all, I need to have some piles removed.I would appreciate any info from people who had this done. i just wanted some info, like the different procedures you took, the pain relief you used, and how long it took to remove/bind piles and how long it took to recover.
Thanks a bunch in advance

the operation is pretty straight-forward - they are basically varicose veins around your bum. However, you do need to stay in hospital until you have opened your bowels, because if they bleed post-op it can be really serious.

thanks jaybird37, i'm wondering if you need anaesthetics for banding, do you know? been looking for it, but can't find anywhere that is a little more detailed. God, i feel like such a baby! Blush

I am not sure about staying in hosp till you have pooed.

My friend was treated for piles earlier this year as an outpatient - in and out of the hosp in a few hours.

If it were me and you had to stay in till you had 'been' then I'd be there weeks as I can only go on my own loo Blush.

Me too, Flibbertyjibbet! i think it would be for an outpatient and not staying over night, but i haven't got details!! and the not knowing is what freaks me out (and having someone poking around where you'd expect no one should--lol!)
