blood tests before an endoscopy

I had a duodenal polyp removed via endoscopy earlier this year and have recently made an appointment for a follow up endoscopy this Friday (20th).

Apparently I have to have a blood test beforehand but as I haven't had the paperwork through yet from the hospital I've no idea what they will be testing for. This will be my 5th endoscopy since April last year and apart from a blood test as part of initial exploratory tests I haven't had to have my blood taken before.

I'm not worried about it just wondered if anyone else might be able to suggest a reason
